Redrock Landscapes: Bryce & Zion National Parks

There is nothing quite like the landscape of southern Utah and this workshop allows you to explore two amazing national parks in the heart of red rock country:  Bryce and Zion.

We’ll begin our adventure in Bryce National Park with its unique hoodoos – thin columns of rock that form magnificent spires. No other place on earth has as many hoodoos! We’ll experience the tangerine glow of the hoodoos at sunrise and the beautiful evening light of sunset over Bryce’s high plateau. Our hikes down into Bryce Canyon will allow us to shoot a variety of compositions.

After three days of soaking in the geologic wonders of Bryce, we travel southwest to Zion. Sitting on the edge of the Colorado Plateau, Zion National Park is part of the Grand Staircase, a colorful rock formation that stretches from Bryce to the Grand Canyon (fun fact: the bottom rock layer at Bryce Canyon is the top layer at Zion!). We’ll explore Zion’s amazing canyon where sandstone walls of crimson and orange tower over 1000 feet above the canyon floor. Wind and water have eroded and sculpted beautiful rock “temples” and the green ribbon of the Virgin River meanders through them, carving out unique formations. During the week, we also plan to capture the amazing dark skies and brilliant stars of southwest Utah through night photography.

Join us for a true adventure where the play of light, shadow, and vibrant desert colors create endless photo opportunities. Bryce and Zion are sure to reinvigorate your photography and your spirit!
