Possible presentation topics

Creating Depth in Landscape Photography
Do you find your landscape photographs often feel flat compared to what you saw in real life? Doug will help you understand how to use the power of focal length and camera position to profoundly enhance the perception of depth in your landscape compositions. Depth transforms your landscapes into powerful, dimensional images.

Low Light and Night Photography
No need to put the camera away when the sun goes down! In this educational lecture, Doug will explore low light photography and help you create an easy process to capture great night photography, from the neon of downtown to the star-filled sky.

Expressive Black and White Photography
Doug will take us back to the roots of B&W photography and how it has influenced how we see and process images today. He’ll discuss what makes good B&W subjects and present a simple workflow to help you create compelling B&W photographs.

Flash Photography Made Easy
Are you puzzled by your flash and often find that the results are not what you expected? In this informative lecture, Doug will simplify flash and share a workflow that will help you understand your flash and get great results with flash photography.

A Foundation for the Macro World
Macro photography exposes a world that is mostly unseen with the naked eye and allows us to discover new visual adventures each time we shoot. This presentation will teach you the tools and workflow to get close-up and capture those amazing moments when little things get big!

Keeping your Photography Fresh
Does it feel like you’ve reached a plateau and your photography is beginning to feel stuck, or even a little boring? Join Doug in this insightful lecture that will jump-start your photography and put the fun back into it!

The Essence of Light
Photography is painting or drawing with light and its presence describes our subjects. Through examples and clear explanation, Doug will deepen your understanding of different types of light and help you discover the characteristics of light you can use to better communicate how you feel about your subject matter.

HDR Photography
It is often a challenge for our cameras to capture scenes that have a high dynamic range (HDR). Shadows can turn out too dark, while the highlights become way too bright. With explanations that are understandable, Doug will help you recognize scenes that are problematic and provide solutions that overcome high contrast limitations from a single exposure. This will allow you to capture all that you see with realistic and beautiful HDR processing!

Exploring your Subject
In this insightful presentation, Doug takes you inside the rule of thirds, your perspective and beyond just one to help you explore a subject more fully. These concepts will help you to discover and communicate more personally with any subject matter and achieve more expressive results in your photography.
